While working for Restoration Academy full-time, and for a few years after leaving, I had the opportunity to create the annual report for this non-profit, documenting things they had accomplished in the preceding year. I was responsible for all of it—concept, design/layout, even a lot of the photography.

While working for Restoration Academy full-time, and for a few years after leaving, I had the opportunity to create a number of smaller publications that served as self-mailers, sent out to donors, school families, and other supporters of the organization. I was supplied the text, but provided creative direction, design, and in some cases photography. I often tried to feature students and/or student-generated artwork.

One unique idea I had while working at Restoration Academy was to create custom, 12-month calendars each year to send to partners, donors, and school families. It created a regular reminder of the mission of the organization, while keeping the students of the school as the focus of that mission. I designed and laid out each calendar, and executed all of the photography as well. I even built a DIY ring light to shoot through for the close-up portraits.

I was asked to design a handbook for Birmingham-based mentorship non-profit called Aspire Movement. It was all printed in B&W on a Kraft paper cover and white interior pages, and saddle-stitched to keep production costs down.
